In October, Quest’s Wings Company conducted a 10-day tour of Mexico. Supported by the United States Department of State, the company performed it’s school and community show “Road Signs” in Guadalajara and Mexico City. The company also conducted visual theatre workshops for deaf and hard of hearing actors in students in both cities. The tour also reunited Quest with Seňa y Verbo, Mexico’s premiere deaf theatre company. Like Quest’s partners in South Africa and Hong Kong, the two companies took advantage of their time together to conducted two days of cross training.
Discussions are underway between the Quest staff and the American Embassy and Consulate for Quest to return to Mexico to conduct professional development in arts integration and literacy to teachers serving deaf and hard of hearing children and to possibly create a collaborative visual theatre production with deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing performers and students.
We deeply appreciate the support of the caring and competent staffs of the Embassy, Consulate, and Seňa y Verbo.
